The aim of this International Competition is to design a New Contemporary Art Museum in the heart of Buenos Aires. The architecture of this new building should reflect contemporary design tendencies. The site for the proposed museum is located near the famous Puente de la Mujer bridge designed by the Spanish Architect, Santiago Calatrava.

Located in the heart of Puerto Madero Waterfront, the site sits adjacent to the Puente De La Mujer Bridge. The site is embraced by 2 strong axes; one running east-west connecting to the other side of the waterfront via the iconic bridge,La Fragata Sarmiento. The second north-south axis provides a stream of pedestrian flow enjoying the leisurely activities of the Puerto Madero Waterfront. The proposal seeks to further activate the site and strengthen these existing connections.

With careful consideration to surrounding context, the proposal seeks to provide a positive impact, drawing energies from its surroundings, and beyond; then giving back to the community by providing a public outdoor area that includes a sculpture garden and a new garden area where visitors can gather and relax.

The New Contemporary Art Museum is considered to be a landmark, a new meeting place for Buenos Aires. It touches the site lightly, creating public open pockets of space, catering for the community. By opening up the site on the ground floor, a clear path ofcirculation is provided, enabling a clear connection to the existing waterfront to the east, and the city centre to the west. These energies come together and form a fluid vessel housing the new museum.
